Phoenix -

Subway® Restaurants of Arizona is pleased to announce Julieann King, Abby Krulisky, Rebekah Turner and Rhiannon Yazzie as the young winners of its inaugural “Subway Freshest, Fittest, Tailgate Party of the Year Essay Contest. The fresh, fit contest, held in conjunction with the upcoming Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) in April, asked for children eight to 11 years old across the Valley to write and tell Subway what their class or after school organization does to help them live happier, healthier lives.

The grand prizewinners and their class and/or organization will be treated to:

  • A private tailgate party prior to the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at PIR on April 12, 2008
  • Tickets and parking passes to the race
  • A private visit from Jared Fogle, “The Subway Guy,” who lost 245 pounds and has kept it off for more than 10 years
  • A private visit from Tony Stewart, Subway’s official driver
  • Interactive games, obstacle courses and prizes
  • Photo opportunities with Subway racecar
  • Free music, food and drinks courtesy of Subway Restaurants and Shamrock Farms

“The entries received this year came from organizations and classes throughout the Valley,” said Mark Roden, Subway franchisee. “For example, Julieann wrote about her fourth grade class’ unique methods to stay active while the school fields are undergoing construction, Abby about her Volleyball team’s training and determination, Rebekah about her 4-H club and Rhiannon about her Boys and Girls Club branch programs.”
